Christian contemporary music has experienced significant change over time.The origins of this relatively new genre can be traced to the Jesus Movement of the late 60’s. Bands just like Larry Norman paved the way for the huge popularity of today's christian music performers. Throughout that phase there had been also songs launched on the mainstream airwaves which praised Jesus and thereby delivered his message to an even wider audience. Songs like “Put Your Hand in the Hand” by Ocean even managed to get high inside the hot 100. Of course there were critics who felt the life style that rock stars led would be detrimental to the message . However it turned out, many non-believers were led to Christ as a result of these songs.
